Funeral services for Gracie Mae Anderson, 88, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, 2023, at First Baptist Church with Norman Rushing officiating. Burial will follow in Childress Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 22, 2023, at Johnson Funeral Home.
She passed away Sept. 12, 2023, in Amarillo,Texas.
Gracie was born March 31, 1935, to Charles Andrews and Mary Williams Andrew in Seymour, Texas. Her family moved to Childress, Texas in 1942, and Gracie was a longtime, active member of the community and First Baptist Church. She spent 45 years as an operating room technician at Childress General Hospital and later, Childress Regional Medical Center.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, Jack Haynes; a sister, Georgia Teplin; and two brothers, Willie Hopper and Donellius Hopper.
Survivors include her daughter, Evelyn Coulter, of Amarillo; her sons, Richard Anderson and Rick Anderson, of Amarillo; grandchildren Anthony Anderson, Antwane Collier, Felisha Swain, Brittany McGhee Smith and Gene Kristopher Anderson; and great-grandchildren Trevin Swain, Germani Smith and Tajanna McGhee Pleasant, of Amarillo.
