Jean Morgan Summers departed this life into the arms of her savior Jesus Christ on Dec. 21, 2023.

She entered this world on Jan. 8, 1929, in Quail, Texas to Ira and Lena Henderson Morgan. After her high school graduation, she attended West Texas State University in Canyon, Texas with one semester at Sul Ross University in Alpine, Texas. Jean graduated with a BA in Education and secondary in Drama. She taught a total of 42 years between Hobbs, N.M., Climax and Arvada, Colo. and Jal, N.M., teaching in Elementary and Junior/Middle School.

Her specialty was English and Drama classes where she directed countless school productions. Jean loved to travel and never met anyone she couldn’t strike up a conversation with.

She is survived by her three children, Kimberlea and spouse Jimmy, Kelly Sherrill and spouse Terri, Kara and spouse Michael Galloway.

Her seven grandchildren, Jamie Beer, Kasie Nevada, Tucker Sherrill, Morgan Galloway, Madison West and Reagan and Kyler Galloway, also knew her as “Munners.” In addition, she had six great-grandchildren.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Norman, J.I. and Jack Morgan.

Graveside services took place at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2023, at North Fairview 

Cemetery with David Beer officiating. Arrangements were by Adams Funeral Home, of Wellington.

The family suggests that memorials be made to the Wellington Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 321, Wellington, TX 79095.
