JIMMIE MAXINE HUNTER TARVER

Jimmie Maxine Hunter Tarver, 86, of Lutie, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2024.

She was born to J.J. and Ella Mable Mabry Hunter on March 5, 1938, in Estelline, Texas and was a graduate of Lakeview High School.

Jimmie married Mack Gary Tarver on Nov. 30, 1957, in Lakeview, Texas. They had been married 67 years.

She was a wonderful wife, mom and homemaker to Gary and their three boys, Mark, David and Dale, and farmed and ranched right along with them. She loved going to work with her husband, ready to help take on whatever task they came across.

Rarely apart those 67 years of marriage, Jimmie and Gary devoted themselves to each other and were a true example to their family of what a marriage should be. True to her Christian values, she always sought the good in everybody. Jimmie will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Jimmie was a Christian and faithful member of the Bowie Street Church of Christ, where she had taught Sunday school. Also, she was a member of the Samnorwood Young Matrons Club and had served on the Samnorwood School Board.

She also loved working in her yard, and yes, it was immaculate, the most beautiful flowers and landscaping you’d ever see. She enjoyed watching the finch outside her kitchen window and all the other birds feasting in her bird feeders, strategically placed among the landscape, and watching them take up residency in her birdhouses. Her favorite bird of all was the red bird or cardinal.

Jimmie’s favorite holiday was CHRISTmas. She loved getting all of the family together, cooking and especially, putting up the tree.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, David Tarver.

Jimmie is survived by her husband, Gary, of the home; two sons, Mark Tarver and wife Lesa, of Lutie, and Dale Tarver and wife Jodi, of Guthrie, Texas; her daughter- in-law, Michelle Tarver, of Amarillo, Texas; a sister, Linda Farley, of Memphis, Texas; a niece, Julie Farley, of Lubbock, Texas; her nephew, Scott Farley, of Amarillo; seven grandchildren, Ashley Tarver Lorance and Landon, of Guthrie, Leslie Tarver Wiebe, of Wellington, Sadie Tarver, of Pampa, Texas, Matt Tarver and Addie, of Lutie, Candace Tarver Tabor and Seth, of Lovington, N.M., Danica McGuire and Justin, of Midlothian, Texas, and Dace Mahanay and Karis, of New Guinea; 17 great-grandchildren, Harper, Hadlee, Hunter, Hannah and Hazel Lorance, Kolten, Kacen and Kylie Wiebe,Hayden and Raylie Grindstaff, Katie, Mack and Rebekah Tarver, Malachi and “on-the-way” Tabor, and Gracyn, Finleigh and Curri McGuire; and of course, her numerous cousins, whom she loved dearly.
