Troy Don Norrell, 73, of Prosper, Texas, passed away Oct. 22, 2022.

Born July 22, 1949, in Frederick, Okla., Troy grew up in Childress, Texas. He graduated from Childress High School in 1967, and he enjoyed playing baseball and basketball for the Bobcats. He worked several jobs in his teens that included serving as a gas station attendant, hoeing cotton, harvesting wheat and performing duties for the highway department.

A proud veteran, Troy served in the U.S.Navy during the Vietnam War. Deployed to Vietnam twice, he served the Navy as a radarman. He felt that it was a great honor to serve his country, and there was no bigger patriot than Troy. A big proponent of putting America first, he believed in keeping jobs here and not outsourcing them to foreign countries.

After being discharged from the Navy, Troy moved to Southern California, where he raised his three children. A proud and devoted father, Troy stayed very busy being involved in their school and extra-curricular activities. He always put family first. Troy would tell you his greatest achievement was his children

and how proud he is of them and his grandchildren.

He founded Norcal Engineering in 1986.The company provides geotechnical services throughout the Southern California area. Still going strong today, many of the original employees are still with the business. Troy prided himself on being an honest businessman that provided exemplary service to his clients.

In 2012, Troy moved back to Texas to the Round Rock area to semi-retire. He never forgot his West Texas raising and loved to shoot the bull and chew the fat. A great storyteller, he was always up for a good joke and enjoyed reminiscing about growing up in Childress.

In addition to being an avid golfer, he loved to travel, read,cook and solve crossword puzzles. He enjoyed exploring in his motorhome and visited most of the United States while RVing. He was not a person that sat still for very long and was always on the go.

Troy leaves behind his many friends who treasured his sense of humor,loyalty and generosity,and his compassion for others. His ability to light up a room with his quick wit and infectious smile will always be remembered.

Troy is preceded in death by his parents, Arlie and Gladys Norrell; his brothers, Dewain and Leon Norrell; and his sisters, Carolyn King,Nita Rothwell and Deanie Norell.

He is survived by his three children and their spouses, Heather and Steve Green, of Prosper, Texas, Jared and Kim Norrell, of Round Rock, Texas, and Kendall and Scott Tolar, of Coral Springs, Fla.; his grandchildren, Troy Mofakham, Madison Green, Neil and Caleb Norrell and Dillon and Savannah Tolar; a sister, Tammy Rodden and husband Leon, of Gainesville, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family is planning for a memorial service to be conducted at a later date.
