Zack Buchanan Fisher, 82, of Memphis, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2024, in Memphis.

Services took place at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2024, at the First Methodist Church of Memphis with Dr. Stan Cosby and Rev. Gary Boles, officiating. Graveside services followed at 3 p.m. in Hansford Cemetery in Spearman,Texas.

Viewing took place Monday, Aug. 26, at Robertson Funeral Home with family receiving friends from 4-6 p.m. Arrangements were by Robertson Funeral Directors of Memphis.

Zack was born on Nov. 7, 1941, to the late Zack and Helen Buchanan Fisher in Dennison, Ohio. He married Texie Barkley Fisher on June 1, 1962, in Gruver,Texas.

He and Texie moved to Memphis in 1965 and were involved in farming and ranching, and later, opened their own insurance agency, where he worked until his retirement.

Zack was also very involved in politics and was one of Hall County’s first (admitted) Republicans. He served many years as the county’s Republican Chairman and,in August 1972,was hired as the executive director of the Republican Party of Texas.

During his political career, he served as agriculture adviser for the U.S. Senator John Tower and, later, was staff for Texas Congressman Bob Price.

Through the years, Zack also served on many local and regional boards, including the USDA State FSA Committee, Hall County Hospital Board,Memphis ISD School Board, and Memphis Country Club Board.

He loved the mountains, fishing, spending time with his grandkids, playing pranks and giving everyone he liked a “hard time.”

He was preceded in death by his wife, Texie; his parents; and his sisters, Mary Fisher and Kathleen Berg, of Ohio.

Survivors include daughter Kelli Little and husband Mark, of Memphis; son Kevin Fisher, of Memphis; three grandsons, Peyton Little, of Memphis, Zack K. Fisher and wife Olivia, of Memphis, and Kord Fisher, of Canyon, Texas; granddaughter Kembra Fisher, of Abilene, Texas; and great-grandson Zack Stratton Fisher, of Memphis.

The family requests memorials be made to Hall County Home Delivered Meals or the First Methodist Church of Memphis.
