LANNY TUCKER

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Lanny Tucker, who entered into the presence of his Heavenly Father at the age of 90 on Oct. 15, 2025. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 25, 2025, at Memphis First United Methodist Church, 204 North 2nd St., Memphis, TX, with Bob Robinson officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Bartley Funeral Home.

Lanny was born on Oct. 2, 1935, to L. A. and Velma (Newman) Tucker in Estelline, Hall County, Texas.

Mr. T earned his master’s degree at Texas Tech University in August 1963. He began his career as an agriculture teacher, working in Hart, Estelline and Memphis, Texas. He excelled in his profession, guiding students to success at every major stock show in the state. Mr. T was passionate about both his job and the students he mentored. A particularly proud moment came when his daughter, Lana, won the Houston Grand Champion in Crossbred Pigs.

He married the love of his life, Mary Alice, on Aug. 8, 1977, in Hart. Family was at the heart of everything he did, and he treasured each moment with them. To his daughter, Karla, he was not only a devoted father but also her greatest supporter. He embraced life’s simple pleasures, especially fishing and golf. His kindness and generosity touched everyone he encountered — he had a gift for making people feel cared for and valued.

Lanny is preceded by his wife, Mary Alice Tucker; his parents, L. A. and Velma Tucker; and his son, Jim Tucker.

His memories will be remembered by the family he loved, including his children, Lana (husband Kevin) McLain, of Plainview, Texas, Karla (husband Kelly) Campbell, of Crosbyton, Texas, and Larry (wife Ginger) of Sherman, Texas; as well as his eight grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
