Jason Carter Fike, 49, of Jacksonville, Fla., formerly of Wellington, Texas, passed away on Dec. 9, 2025, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer.
He was born on June 5, 1976, in Memphis, Texas, to Raymond and Shirley Fike. Jason attended school in Wellington, graduating from Wellington High School in 1994. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Graphic Design from West Texas A&M University in 1999.
Jason began his career with BNSF Railway, traveling across the United States as a welder. He loved exploring the country and often captured its beauty through photography. During his travels, he met Cathleen, and together, they built a loving family, including Skye, followed by Dayven and Dylan.
As his family grew, Jason chose to leave life on the road and settle down in Overland Park, Kan. Here, he founded Fike Trucking, turning his entrepreneurial passion into a thriving business.
Later, seeking to be closer to extended family, Jason and his loved ones moved to Jacksonville. He sold his trucking company and became President of Mobile Dumps of Jacksonville. Florida’s landscape suited Jason perfectly — he cherished fishing trips with his family and teaching his children how to catch the big ones. He looked forward to his parents’ summer visits and watching his dad reel in the big sharks.
In Jacksonville, Jason surrendered his life to Jesus and became an active member of The Church of Eleven 22. Deeply involved in the men’s disciple group, members visited Jason daily during his time in hospice, a testament to the impact he had on those around him. He was passionate about sharing the gospel with others and his testimony.
Loved by many, Jason maintained lifelong friendships. He will be remembered for his faith in Jesus, his love for his family and fishing and his many adventures.
Jason is preceded in death by his grandparents, Sammie and Lucille Motsenbocker, and father-in-law, Eugene Kivett.
He is survived by his wife, Cathleen Fike; daughter Skye; and sons Dayven and Dylan, all of Jacksonville; his parents, Raymond and Shirley Fike, of Wellington; his brother, Tony Fike and partner Jesse Garcia, of Arlington, Texas; and his mother-in-law, Kathy Kivett, of Jacksonville.
The Aaron and Burney Bivens Funeral Home, 529 Kingsley Avenue, Orange Park, FL 32073, 904264-1244, is serving the family.
A Celebration of Life service has been announced for Saturday, Jan. 31 in Jacksonville. The family is planning an additional Memorial Service for early February in Wellington. The details will be announced on Jason’s mother, Shirley Fike’s, Facebook page.
