Nat Hamilton Holton, 76, of Childress, Texas, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2026.
Graveside services with full military honors will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, 2026, at Fairview Cemetery in Wellington, Texas, with Dr. Mike Henderson, of Childress, officiating. Arrangements are by Adams Funeral Home of Wellington.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-7:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 9.
Born on Nov. 21, 1949, in Wellington, to Lawrence Hamilton “Ham” and Cora Elizabeth Clark Holton, Nat graduated from Wellington High School. He attended college and received his master’s degree in criminal justice.
Nat joined the U.S. Army in 1969 and served in the Vietnam War from 1970-1971. After his discharge, he served as an officer on the Kansas City, Mo. police department for four years. Nat rejoined the Army in 1976, where he served honorably until he retired in 1993 as an SFC.
Nat was a member of the Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and his grandson, Jevon Holton, in 2018.
Nat is survived by his children’s mother, Patricia Smothermon; three daughters, Patrice Barlow, Carrie Holton and Mary Hill; five grandchildren, Zoey Borchardt and Kielss, Haley Schoder, Carson Barlow and Destiny, Emmett Holton and Lyric Montoya; and his greatgrandson, Jasper Borchardt.
