June was born on Feb. 10, 1930, in Shamrock, Texas, to C.L. Harrison and Anna Cleo (Gassaway) Harrison. She was raised as the youngest of nine siblings on a cotton farm in Wellington. From humble beginnings, she carried a strong work ethic and a deep sense of family throughout her life.

After graduating from high school, June attended Draughon’s Business College and went on to build a successful career as a professional executive secretary for over 40 years. She was known for her dedication, professionalism and reliability.

In 1949, June met WD “Dub” Monroe at a downtown bus stop, and the rest was history. They were married on July 8, 1950, and built a beautiful life together in Amarillo. Their 56-year marriage was filled with love, laughter and countless adventures until WD’s passing in 2006. Together, they raised three sons, Dee, Gary and Kenneth, whom June cherished deeply.

June was blessed to find love again and married Joe Perdue in 2013. They shared many joyful years together, traveling across the United States in their RV and creating lasting memories with their children and grandchildren along the way.

June especially loved spending time with family, playing card games and simply enjoying each other’s company. June will be remembered for her warmth, strength and unwavering love for her family.

Known affectionately as “Grandma Junie,” she was cherished for her kindness, quick wit, sense of humor and her many creative expressions. She was deeply loved and will be forever remembered by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, all of her siblings and her husbands, WD Monroe (2006) and Joe Perdue (2025).

She is survived by her three sons, Dee Monroe and wife Rebecca, Gary Monroe and wife Natalia, and Kenneth Monroe and wife Emily, and three bonus daughters, Jayna Anglen, Jennifer and Vicki Perdue and each of their families.

June also leaves behind her grandchildren, August Peterson, Daniel Monroe, Whitney King and their families, as well as Melanie Monroe, Dee V. Monroe, Stas Monroe, Yana Monroe, Oksana Monroe, Isabella Monroe and Olivia Monroe. In addition, she leaves behind four great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and too many nieces, nephews, extended family and others to name, but all of them were important to her.
