Veva L. (Buske) Davis

Veva L. (Buske) Davis, 93, of Wellington, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2026.

Graveside services took place at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 29, 2026, at North Fairview Cemetery, with Rev. Gene Weinette, pastor of the First Methodist Church, officiating. Arrangements were by Adams Funeral Home of Wellington.

Veva was born on Jan. 6, 1933, in Avoca, Jones County, Texas, to Travis and Ollie F. McIlwain Buske. She graduated from Floydada High School.

She married Neil Davis on Dec. 21, 1950, in Lubbock, Texas. They had a blissful marriage, lasting 65 years before Neil’s passing.

They moved to Wellington in 1961 from Cone, Texas. In Cone, Veva and Neil served as youth leaders at their church. She served as a member of the First Methodist Church until her death and an active member until unable to attend in person.

Veva retired in 2003 after over 20 years as the secretary and office manager for the Collingsworth County Farm Bureau Insurance Agency. She took a lot of pride in her job and long service to Farm Bureau.

A loving and supportive wife, mother and grandmother, Veva enjoyed riding in the pickup with Neil to check the cows and crops.

An avid Wellington Skyrocket supporter, Veva became a fixture at the football and basketball games for many decades.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Neil in 2016; a granddaughter, Whitney Davis Souder; a brother, Jerry Buske; her sister, Nora Mae Buske; and a daughter-in-law, Karen Davis.

Veva is survived by two sons, Mike Davis, of Lubbock, and Keith Davis and his wife, Shari, of Wellington; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

The family suggests that memorials be made to the Wellington Opportunity Center, P.O. Box 122, Wellington, TX 79095.
