Sergio Romero, 27, passed away on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, in Childress, Texas.
Sergio was born on November 16, 1998, in Childress to Felipe De Jesus Romero and Patricia (Galindo) Romero.
Visitation was held from 3-5 p.m. Saturday, June 20, 2026, at 804 N. 17th St., Memphis, Texas 79245.
Another visitation was held from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, June 21 at 1645 CR 29, Estelline, Texas 79233.
A private family service was held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 22, 2026, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 213 N. 3rd St., Memphis.
A memorial celebration was held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 24, 2026, in the Childress gymnasium. All were welcomed to join.
Sergio grew up in Estelline and attended Childress High School, graduating in the Class of 2017. He then attended West Texas A&M and graduated with his bachelor’s in criminal justice in May 2021.
Shortly after, Sergio and his wife welcomed their first son, Julian, in July. To initiate his dream, he joined his first police academy in College Station, graduating Dec. 9, 2021. He then worked for the Memphis Police Department and Hall County Sheriff ’s Office for a total of three years.
On Oct. 15, 2022, he united his family in a matrimonial ceremony. In 2024, they welcomed their second son, Elias. He then decided to pursue his lifelong dream of becoming a State Trooper. So, he then attended the Texas Department of Public Safety Academy in the summer of 2025. Sergio graduated in September 2025 as Class B 2025. He started his personal journey on Sept. 29, 2025, and loved everything about being a State Trooper.
Sergio never took a break and would use all free time with his family, like helping his father in any way he could, riding horses and watching his favorite teams with family. He was a diehard fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide, Baltimore Ravens and the U.S. Men’s Soccer team. Sergio was also a volunteer firefighter for the Memphis Fire Department and served his community in any way he could, like volunteering to coach his oldest son’s t-ball team.
His memory will always be in our hearts and carried with his fellow brothers in blue.
Sergio is survived by his wife, Francisca Romero, of Memphis; sons Julian N. Romero and Elias L. Romero, of Memphis; father Felipe De Jesus Romero, of Estelline; mother Patricia (Galindo) Romero, of Estelline; brothers Jano Romero, of Estelline, and Jesse Romero, of Memphis; sister Annette Romero, of Estelline; sister-inlaw, Selena Romero, of Memphis; nephews Guel Romero and Chicken Romero, of Memphis; and nieces Lena Romero and Yeli Romero, of Memphis, along with numerous uncles, aunts and extended family.
Sergio is preceded in death by his grandfather, Santiago Galindo, and his grandmother, Norbertha Romero.
