Daniel “Buffalo” Castillo, 64, of Weatherford, Okla., a former longtime resident of Wellington, Texas, passed away on Friday, July 10, 2026.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July 17, 2026, at the Wellington First Baptist Church with Dakota Marsh, pastor of the Life Fellowship Church in Weatherford, officiating. Burial with military honors by the U.S. Army will be in Dodson Cemetery. Arrangements are by Adams Funeral Home of Wellington.
Pallbearers are Davon, Braxton, Jessie, Benito and Antonio Castillo and Lucian Gray.
Buffalo was born on Jan. 8, 1962, in Hollis, Okla. to Epifanio Castillo Jr. and Marcelina “Josephine” Robles Castillo.
He graduated from Wellington High School in 1981. Enlisting in the Texas National Guard early entry program in 1979, Buffalo served over 23 years with one year of active duty in the Army after Sept. 11, 2001, and retired in 2002.
Buffalo was a member of the Life Fellowship Church in Weatherford. For over 10 years, he worked as a correctional officer for the State of Oklahoma.
Buffalo was preceded in death by his mother and a nephew, Dustin Castillo.
His survivors include two sons, Davon Castillo and wife Alysia, of Broken Bow, Okla., and Braxton Castillo and wife Candace, of El Reno, Okla.; his father and stepmother, Epifanio Castillo Jr. and Elvira, of Wellington; a sister, Shelia Granados and husband Robert, of Weatherford; two brothers, Jessie Castillo and wife DeAnn, of Wellington, and Benito Castillo and wife Gessika, of Weatherford; three grandchildren, Bailey, Takaoda and Aurelius; and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
The family suggests that memorials be made to the Dodson Cemetery Association or the Tunnels to Towers Foundation.
