ALICIA “ALICE” FLORES

Alicia “Alice” Flores, 77, of Memphis, Texas, passed away on Sunday, Dec.17, 2023.

Mass took place at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 21, 2023, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Memphis with Father John Sangabathini officiating. Burial followed in Fairview Cemetery in Memphis. Viewing was held at the funeral home from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 20. The Rosary was said at 5 p.m. Arrangements were by Robertson Funeral Directors of Memphis.

Alice was born on May 30, 1946, in Stamford, Texas, to Santos and Jacinta Lopez Salinas. She married Alejandro Flores, and they had seven children together. In 1974, they moved to Memphis and raised their family in the community. Alice was a housekeeper at Western Motel in Memphis. She also worked many years in Cousins Home Convalescent Center. She was a devout Catholic and attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Memphis.

Alice was known around town as “ticket lady.” She loved to play the lottery and had a lot of luck with scratch off tickets. She also loved wrestling.Three nights a week, she could be found on her couch watching WWE and other wrestling matches with her son. Alice could never be counted out of any situation. Though she was small in stature, she was known for being a little firecracker with lots of tenacity and spirit within her, so much so that she acquired the nickname “Rocky.”

Above all, Alice was a deeply rooted family woman. She showed her love by cooking for her family. She was very close to her children and grandchildren and will be deeply missed by them all.

Alice is preceded in death by her parents; husband Alejandro Flores; and she went to be with the Lord alongside her daughter,Yolanda Castillo.

She is survived by her four sons, Victor Flores, Alex Flores, Frankie Flores and wife Debbie and Michael Flores; two daughters, Emma Vaquera and Cindy Castillo and husband Lalo; two brothers, Bailey Salinas and Roy Salinas; two sisters, Elidia Garcia and Esperanza Lara; 30 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
