Genoveva was born on Sept. 3, 1937, in Goliad, Texas, to Alfredo and Caralina Montes Valerio. In Goliad is where she met and married the love of her life, Ramon Herrera, in June 1958, in Mathis, Texas. He preceded her in death after 24 years of marriage.

The family moved to Hollis, Okla. in 1965, where she served as an active member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. Genoveva moved to Wellington in 2003, where she resided.

Mom was a Catholic and lived life, first of all, loving her Jesus Christ and always praying for her children and their families. She enjoyed cooking, playing bingo and going to casinos. She enjoyed seeing all of her children, grandkids and great-grandkids together the most, and she gave all of them so much love. Her Maddox was extra special to her. Although only two years old, he loved his “Wela” so much.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Reyes Herrera; three brothers, Alfredo “Boy” Valerio Jr, Freddy “Fred” Valerio and Baldo Valerio; a sister, Audelia V. “Belia” Torres; and her great-grandson, Ramon Ceballos.

Our mom and Wela is survived by three sons, Ramon Herrera Jr. and wife Maria, of Wellington, Luis Herrera and wife Sylvia, of Chickasha, Okla., and Ismael Herrera and wife Patty, of Oklahoma City, Okla.; six daughters, Noelia Gomez, of Chickasha, Soyla Molina and husband Larry and Annie Seale and husband Sheldon, both of Wellington, Delia Enriquez and husband Frank and Melinda Herrera, both of Seguin, Texas, and Lynda Ceballos, of Yukon, Okla.; two sisters, Hortencia Valerio Paiz, of Abernathy, Texas, and Maria Louisa Resio, of Mathis; and 28 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter.

The family suggests that memorials be made to the Wellington Cemetery Association, P.O. 321, Wellington, TX 79095.
