Ann Thorn, age 86, passed away on Jan. 8, 2024, in Childress, Texas.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, 2024, at Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with Ronnie Shoffner officiating.
Ann was born on Nov. 16, 1937, to Clarence E. Kelso and Alice P. (Dill) Kelso in Oklahoma City, Okla.
She married Arthur Preston Thorn on Nov. 12, 1954 and remained so until his passing in 1988. Ann served the community as a nurse’s aide at Childress Regional Medical Center for 27 years. Ann was a diehard Dallas Cowboys’ fan, and she would be the first to say,“How about them Cowboys!”She loved to cook, and she was known for her chicken and dumplings and banana pudding. She loved to have her family over to her house for card games and dinner, which she called “Garden Trash Night.”
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Arthur Preston Thorn; son Ronny Lee Thorn; sister Pauline Mills; sister Gwen Court; sister Thelma Wright; brother Harland Kelso; sister Frances Tullos; sister Johnnie Borton; and sister Trudy Hite.
Ann is survived by son Arthur “Buster”Thorn and wife Ranetta, of Childress; son Michael Thorn, of Childress; sister Barbara Thorn, of Venus, Texas; sister Linda Bates, of Petrolia, Texas; brother C.E. Kelso, of Arlington, Texas; brother Larry Kelson, of Burkburnett, Texas; grandchildren Amber Thorn, Mason Thorn and Marcy Thorn; and great-grandchildren Ariel Garrett and Tyler Garrett.
