Euletha Mae “Lee” Green Hood, an 11-year resident of Wellington, Texas, passed away in Childress, Texas on Thursday, Feb. 15, 2024, at the age of 104.
A visitation and celebration of life gathering will be held from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 25 in the Fellowship Hall of the First Baptist Church. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 2 at Bogata Cemetery in Bogata, Texas. Cremation arrangements are by Adams Funeral Home of Wellington.
Lee was born on Aug. 17, 1919, in Tatum, N.M., to Emmett Martin and Virgie Houston Green.
A champion typist and good at shorthand and spelling, she graduated from Tatum High School in 1937. Lee earned her degree from Draughon’s Business College in Lubbock, Texas, where Lee met her future husband, Buford Hood. They married and raised their family at Lake Brownwood, near Brownwood,Texas.
Lee was preceded in death by her parents; two children, Bruce and Loretta; two grandchildren, Mecheall and Gary; all six of her siblings; and her husband.
Her survivors include her daughter, Sandra Daniel and husband Lyman, of Wellington; eight grandchildren, Karen and Bruce Allen, both of College Station, Texas, Hallie, of San Antonio, Texas, Alicia, of Pflugerville, Texas, Sheldon, of Burleson, Texas, Renee, of Brenham, Texas, Ginger, of Del Rio,Texas, and Doug, of Childress; 19 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great grandchildren.
The family suggests that memorials be made to the First Baptist Church in Wellington.
