NOEL “SHANE” POPWELL

Noel “Shane” Popwell, 51, of Wellington, Texas, passed away on Monday, Feb. 24, 2025, in Wellington.

Two services will be held in honor of Shane. At 2 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 28, 2025, a memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church with Keith Martin officiating.

At 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2025, a Celebration of Life will be held at the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post in Wellington.

Shane was born on April 12, 1973, in Wichita Falls, Texas. He was the son of Eddie and LeAnn Popwell. He grew up in Wellington, where he graduated from Wellington High School in 1991. He later continued his education at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, Texas. He was a brother in the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity.

From the very early years in his life, he was involved with his family business, Popwell, Inc. He was a custom harvester for more than 35 years. His family even recalls him climbing around on combines and tractors since he was 3 years old and always asking to have his hands cleaned at any moment. For the past 15 years, he served as a truck driver. hauling cotton, rock, peanuts and many other materials.

Shane married Dawn Popwell on Dec. 5, 2014. They have resided in Wellington since February 2014.

Shane was preceded in death by his mother, LeAnn Popwell; his father, Nolan Glenn Tole; and his grandparents, Brad Uttermark and Maritta Cummings and Leo and Mari-Carol Popwell.

He is survived by his wife, Dawn Popwell; children Shanee Osborn and her husband, Blaze, Megan Cardenas and Matthew and Justine Hale; father Eddie Popwell and wife Pam; stepmother Mary Jo Tole; brothers Heath Popwell and Jeff and Eric Tole; nephews Keath and Kaden Popwell and Christopher Tole; nieces Remi and Chloe Jo Tole; and mother-in-law Patricia Kay; along with numerous grandchildren, including Emma Zaragoza and Brooklyn Hale.

Shane will be remembered as an incredible father, husband, son, grandfather and friend to all. He was a kind and generous man who would always help and be there for others.

The family suggests that memorials be made to the Wellington Cemetery Association or Collingsworth County Home Delivered Meals.

Cremation arrangements are by Adams Funeral Home of Wellington.
