Ascencion Contreras, 76, of Hollis, Okla., formerly of Childress, Texas, passed away Friday, Feb. 16, 2024, in Hollis.
Services took place at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2024, in Robertson Funeral Directors Heritage Chapel in Memphis, Texas with Rev. Daniel Downey officiating. Burial followed in Fairview Cemetery in Memphis. Viewing was held Tuesday, Feb. 20 at the funeral home. Arrangements were by Robertson Funeral Directors of Memphis.
Ascencion was born March 14, 1947, in Hall County, Texas to Louis and Lebrada Nevarez Contreras. He had worked as a foreman for Mays Lumber Company prior to his retirement.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lucy Contreras; a sister, Rose Sofge; brothers David Contreras and Emilio Contreras; and a nephew, Cody Contreras.
Those left to honor his memory include a son, Kelly James; daughter Dana Contreras; and his siblings, Joe Contreras, Josie Estrada and her husband, Victor, Dora Martinez and husband Steven, Alex Contreras and wife Barbara, Paul Contreras and wife Beverly, Silvia Gonzales, Delfino Contreras and Randy Contreras and wife Catheron; as well as his nieces and nephews.
