Betty Ann Martin, of Childress, Texas, passed away Sunday, June 14, 2026.
She lived for 83 years and left behind beautiful memories that will be forever cherished by her family and friends.
Funeral services took place at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 20, 2026, at Childress Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Terry Williams, pastor, officiating. Burial followed in Childress Cemetery. The family entrusted arrangements to Adams Funeral Home of Wellington, Texas.
Betty was born on Sept. 1, 1942, to Homer Lester and Grace Bell (Kindle) Martin in Littlefield, Texas.
She loved people and working with the public was right up her alley. With jobs at places like Coats Grocery, Gibsons and manager of Fairview Manor Apartments, along with opening the first beer store in Tell, Betty never met a stranger. She served 22 years on the Childress Housing Authority’s Board of Directors.
When Betty was no longer working, if you were going to visit, you better come with the gossip. She always managed to know what was going on around town without leaving the house.
Betty’s warmth, love and kindness will always be remembered. She may no longer be with us, but her spirit lives on in the hearts of her family.
Betty is preceded in death by her father, Homer Lester Martin; her mother, Grace Bell (Kindle) Seal; brother Gary Don Martin; sister-in-law Edith Martin; and numerous step siblings.
She is survived by daughter Gloria Webster and husband Joey, of Childress; son Martin Clifton, of Lubbock, Texas; two grandchildren, Ericka Moore and husband Kevin, of Childress, and Joseph Webster and wife Emma, of Amarillo, Texas; six great-grandchildren, Brittany He and Haowei, of Allen, Texas, Matraca Toro, of Childress, Nick Webster and Emily, of Childress, Maycin Smotherman, of Amarillo, Camryn Webster, of Amarillo, and Bella Moore, of Childress; six great-great grandchildren, Olivia, Timothy and Lucy Toro, Blake and Crawford He and Wiley Webster; two brothers, H.L. Martin, of Shallowater, Texas, and Doug Seal and wife Wyvonne, of Wellington; sister- in-law Paulette Martin, of Childress; and nieces Stephanie Gravett and husband Chad, of Wolfforth, Texas, Shanna Friday, of Lubbock, Ashley Barnett and husband Monty, of Clyde, Texas, and Amy Martin, of Arlington, Texas; as well as numerous great-nieces and nephews and her special friend and longtime caregiver, Stephenia Mills.
