Betty Joan ‘Granny’(Jarrell) Wyatt, age 89, passed away on Feb. 1, 2024, in Newcastle, Okla.

Funeral services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Childress, Texas at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, 2024, with Bishop Kevin Keys officiating.

Burial will follow at Childress Cemetery on Saturday, Feb. 10, 2024.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 9, 2024, at Johnson Funeral Home in Childress.

Joan was born on Dec. 2, 1934, in Kirkland, Texas to Hardy Cecil Jarrell and his wife, Eula Margaret (Stanford).

Joan married the love of her life, Darrell Ray Wyatt, on Jan. 17, 1953, in Childress. She and Darrell were married for 71 years. She loved her family dearly and also enjoyed reading and quilting. She was very interested in genealogy. She was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many callings.

Joan is preceded in death by her husband, Darrell Ray; her parents, Hardy Cecil Jarrell and Eula Margaret (Stanford); and siblings James Calvin Cope, Cathy Lofstrom, Lonnie Ward, Helen Ray, Edwina Henderson and Evelyn Speed.

She is survived by her children, Raelynn (Les) Arquette, of Ladonia, Texas; David (Beverly) Wyatt, of Orem, Utah, Donnie (Elizabeth) Wyatt, of Vernon, Texas, Ronnie (Stacie) Wyatt, of Orem, Utah and Phoebe (Greg) Gammage, of Newcastle, Okla.; 28 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
