Bob S. Allen, 91, of Vinson, Okla., passed away on Sunday, August 24, 2025, at his home.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 29, 2025, at the Wellington First Christian Church with Mark Burrows, of Erick, Okla., and Robert Allen, of Vinson, officiating. Burial will be at Independence Cemetery in Madge, Okla. Arrangements are by Adams Funeral Home of Wellington, Texas.

Pallbearers are Carl Taylor, Wade Williams, Jack Allen, Rhett Allen, Robert Allen and Tony Hortsman.

Bob was born in Carl, Okla. on July 23, 1934, to David Jackson and Nellie Elizabeth Wylie Allen. He married Freida Nelson on April 8, 1955, in Canyon, Texas.

He graduated from Perryton High School in 1952 and attended what is now West Texas A&M University in Canyon, where he received his bachelor’s degree. His first job out of college was with the Magnolia Oil Company as an accountant for two years.

In 1958, Bob began his career in education in Lordsburg, N.M. From there, he moved to Amarillo, Texas and taught at Travis Junior High and Caprock High School. In 1977, he moved to Wellington to teach and, in 1979, became the junior high principal. Bob also served as the interim superintendent for a year. He retired in 1990, after 32 years in education.

Bob served as vice president of the Hedley Branch of Community Bank for a short time and was a farmer, rancher and custom hay baler.

He served on the Board of Directors of Harmon County Electric Cooperative and Western Farmers Utility Cooperative, where he served as President. Bob oversaw the Independence Cemetery for many years, until a year ago.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Christopher Scott Allen, in 1966; two brothers, Kenneth Jack Allen and Wayne Conner Allen; and his infant sister, Nelda Jolene Allen.

His survivors include his wife, Freida, of Vinson; his son, Robert Allen, and wife Dawn, of Vinson; two grandsons, Jackson Ross Allen, of New Castle, Okla., and Johnathan Brinkley, of Vinson; two granddaughters, Natalie Adkins, of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Jackie Brinkley, of Vinson; a great-grandson, Rhett Lane Allen; and a sister, Dena Smith and husband Richard, of Amarillo.

The family suggests that memorials be made to the Independence Cemetery.
