Dan E. Warrick, 74, of Canyon, Texas, passed away on Monday, Aug. 22, 2022.

Memorial services took place at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, 2022, at the First Methodist Church, of Canyon, with Rev. Rick Enns and Pastor Chris Enoch officiating. Arrangements were by Brooks Funeral Directors.

Dan was born Oct. 21, 1947, in Wellington, Texas to Velman E. Warrick and Dora Fern Durfey Warrick. He graduated from Wellington High School in 1965. He received a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from West Texas State University in 1969.Dan married Donna Lynn Zenor on July 12, 1969.They made a home together in Hereford, Texas and welcomed two children, Wendy and D.J.

Dan served as a certified public accountant with Cotton & Warrick, P.C., located in Hereford, for 45 years. He also was a financial advisor for Raymond James, an auditor for Deaf Smith County from 1998 to 2012 and served on the board of the Hereford Credit Union.

He was a member of the Hereford Jaycees; Hereford Kiwanis; Hereford Rotary; American Institute of CPAs; Panhandle Chapter of CPAs; First United Methodist Church, of Wellington and Hereford; First Methodist Church, of Canyon; Pathfinders Sunday School Class, of Canyon; SOFA; and the West Texas A&M University Buffalo Club.

Dan enjoyed being involved with his children’s activities, including Boy Scouts of America, coaching his son in t-ball and flag football, the Hereford High School Band Boosters and following the band all over the state of Texas to support them.

Dan also enjoyed playing golf and once even made a hole in one. An avid reader, he read the “Hank the Cowdog” series to his son while growing up. He later shared books and book recommendations with his daughter.

He had a life-long passion for collecting and restoring classic and antique cars, a passion he shared with his brothers, Bill and Glen, and his son, D.J.

He supported West Texas A&M University athletics as a season ticket holder for both football and basketball. He cheered for the Iowa State Cyclone football and basketball teams as well.

Dan had tremendous faith. His devotion to God and his family knew no bounds.

His favorite thing was being “Boompa” to his grandchildren. He loved reading to them, playing games, cheering them on in sports, teaching them how to golf and fish and just holding them. They were his greatest joy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Velman and Dora Fern Warrick; and a brother, Glen Warrick.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Donna Warrick; daughter Wendy Kilpatrick and husband Brian; son D.J. Warrick and wife Randi, of Canyon; grandsons Logan and Reagon Warrick, of Canyon; brother Bill Warrick and wife Linda, of Amarillo, Texas; sister Frances Holland and husband Kent, of Wellington; sister-in-law Zenith Hickey, of Wellington; brother-in-law Billy Lee Zenor and wife Dianne, of Canadian, Texas; and numerous extended family members, golfing cohorts and a bevy of friends.

The family suggests memorials be made to the First Methodist Church, 1818 4th Ave., Canyon, TX 79015, or to Children’s Miracle Network.
