Darrell Ray “Gramps” Wyatt, age 92, passed away on Jan. 26, 2024, in Newcastle, Okla.

Funeral services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Childress, Texas at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10 with Bishop Kevin Keys officiating.

Burial will follow at Childress Cemetery on Saturday, Feb. 10, 2024.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 9, 2024, at Johnson Funeral Home in Childress.

Ray was born on Oct. 27, 1931, in Amarillo, Texas to James Otis Wyatt and his wife, Verna Blanche (Garrett).

Ray married the love of his life, Betty Joan Jarrell, on Jan. 17, 1953. They were married for 71 years. He served his country in the United State Army from Feb. 16, 1554Feb. 11, 1956. He served in Germany for one year, two months and 13 days. Ray enjoyed farming, raising cattle and riding horses. He also enjoyed gardening and loved his family. He was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many callings.

Ray is preceded in death by his parents, J.O. Wyatt and Verna Blanche (Garrett); sister Betty Laverne Wyatt; brother Billy Joe Wyatt; brother James Otis Wyatt Jr.; and nephew Ronald Wayne Wyatt.

He is survived by wife Betty Joan Wyatt, of Newcastle, Okla.; sister Estella Rich, of Bulverde, Texas; children Raelynn (Les) Arquette, of Ladonia, Texas, David (Beverly) Wyatt, of Orem, Utah, Donnie (Elizabeth) Wyatt, of Vernon, Texas; Ronnie (Stacie) Wyatt, of Orem, Utah, and Phoebe (Greg) Gammage, of Newcastle, Okla.; 28 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces.
