Graveside services for Gilbert Bailey, 79, were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, 2023, at the Childress Cemetery with Terry Williams officiating. Burial followed under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2023, at Johnson Funeral Home.
He passed away Feb. 21, 2023, in Childress, Texas.
He was born June 17, 1943, in Carey, Texas, to Wilburn Lewis Bailey and Hallye Mary Wooley Bailey.
Gilbert loved his family and playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed playing games and fishing and was always active in church, serving as a deacon for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Ronnie Bailey, Cleta Kaison, Larry Bailey, Wanda Meeh and Jerry Don Bailey.
Survivors include his wife, Bobbie Bailey; his sons, Randal Bailey and wife Kelly, and Greg Bailey; granddaughter Ashley Fuston and husband Matthew; great-grandchildren Hattie Fuston and Tyler Fuston; sister Carolyn Bailey; sisters-in-law Lolita Smothermon, Billie Burnett and Carrie White; and numerous extended family members.
The family requests memorials to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Childress Meals on Wheels.
