Iva Dean Browning Phillips, 95, of Memphis, Texas, died Friday, July 26, 2024, just shy of her 96th birthday, in Memphis.

Services took place at 10 a.m.Wednesday,July31,2024, in the First Baptist Church in Memphis with Rev. Daniel Downey and Keith Martin officiating. Burial followed in Fairview Cemetery in Memphis. Viewing was held Tuesday at the funeral home with the family receiving friends for visitation from 4-6 p.m. Arrangements were by Robertson Funeral Directors of Memphis.

Iva Dean was born July 28, 1928, in Frost, Texas, to Corbia and Harriet Catherine Price Browning. She graduated from Samnorwood High School.

She worked as a telephone operator for a year before she married Cecil Phillips on Jan. 28, 1949, in Quanah, Texas. She was a longtime resident of Memphis, where she was a devoted homemaker.

She enjoyed quilting and having coffee with the girls. Iva Dean was a member of the 49ers Quilting Club, Atlantean Club and Fairview Cemetery Association, and she volunteered for several years with Memphis Meals on Wheels. She was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church in Memphis, where she served on the Benevolence Committee and was a previous Sunday school teacher.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on Nov. 24, 1999; her brother, Sterling Browning and sisterin- law Shirley Perry Browning; her son-in-law, Gordon Maddox; and a great-grandson, Conner Scott.

Survivors include her sons, Randy Phillips and Charles Phillips, both of Memphis; her daughter, Audrie Maddox, of Memphis; three grandchildren, Trenton Crockett, of Memphis,Tonya Scott and husband Dennis, of Burnet, Texas, and Haydn Maddox, of Brownwood, Texas; three great-grandchildren, Kenley Maddox, of Weatherford, Texas, Saylem Maddox and wife Sara, of Levelland, Texas, and Clay Scott, of Midland,Texas; two great-great-grandchildren, Ryser Rico, of Weatherford, and Stevie Maddox, of Levelland; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
