Jimmy Dale McGill, 62, of Wellington, Texas, passed away on Monday, Sept. 26, 2022.

Born in Wellington, Texas Jan. 10, 1960, he was the son of Helen J. Caldwell McGill and the late Raymond V. Mc-Gill. A graduate of Canyon High School, as a young man, Jimmy served as a building contractor. He built and remodeled homes in the Canyon, Texas and Amarillo, Texas area.

The last few years, Jimmy lived a simple life, farming and raising cattle on the family farm near Wellington, which he called home.

In his younger days, Jimmy enjoyed skiing in New Mexico and Colorado. He was an avid baseball fan and enjoyed all sports. Jimmy had a passion for boating and fishing and spent time in Florida, fishing the Flats of the Gulf of Mexico for Redfish. An animal lover, Jimmy lived with many cats and his beloved dogs.

He is survived by his mother, Helen McGill; sister Terri McGill Starkey and her husband, Jesse; his niece, Amanda Parks, her husband, Everett, their daughters, Riley, Cami and Bodi and granddaughter Mavis; his nephew, Jason Harper; his niece, Lacey, her husband, Jonathan, and their daughter, Jessenia.

He is preceded in death by his father, Raymond V. McGill, and a brother, Jerry Dalton McGill.

Friends and acquaintances are invited to meet with family for the visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30 at Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia, Amarillo.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 1 at North Fairview Cemetery, 15th St. (FM 338), Wellington, with Dr. Jim Smith officiating.
