JOANNE SHERWOOD

Joanne Sherwood, 75, of Childress, Texas, passed away July 14, 2025.

A memorial service was held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 24, 2025, at Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Joanne was born on Feb. 24, 1950, to Herbert and Thelma Hutcheson in Santa Fe, N.M.

She grew up in Los Alamos, N.M. and graduated high school in June 1967. Joanne worked a few jobs throughout her life, such as babysitting and working for the Wellington cafeteria. She loved her dogs and cats and enjoyed watching game shows, such as Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune. She loved her great-grandson, Zander, who called her Gammy and would do anything for him.

Joanne is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Bobby Sherwood.

She is survived by her son, Timothy Sherwood, of Childress; granddaughter Daisey Sherwood and partner Hunter Melton, of Childress; grandson Janse Bourland, of Childress; great-grandson Zander Melton, of Childress; sister Carole Goldwater, of Lubbock, Texas; niece Elizabeth Conser, of Lubbock; nephew Matt Goldwater; nephew Wesley Goldwater, of Lubbock; and numerous nieces and nephews.
