Mack David Richards, 97, of Memphis, Texas, passed away on Thursday, July 3, 2025.

Funeral services took place at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 10, 2025, at First Baptist Church of Memphis with Jim Dixon and Anthony Knowles officiating. Burial followed in Fairview Cemetery with Masonic Rites.

Viewing was held at the funeral home from 9 a.m.6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 9 with family receiving friends for visitation from 4-6 p.m. Arrangements were by Robertson Funeral Directors of Memphis.

Mack was born on April 24, 1928, to Louis and Rushia Richards. A lifelong farmer and cattle rancher, he devoted his working years to the land he loved until his retirement. On Nov. 19, 1949, he married Patricia Anne Richardson in Childress, Texas. Together, they built a beautiful life and shared 73 years of marriage.

Mack worked as a Merchant Marine shortly after the war, where he developed a lifelong love of boxing. He later gave generously of his time and leadership as a member of the local school board, the Soil and Water Conservation District Board and the Masonic Lodge. A Master Mason and Shriner with the Scottish Rite, he was deeply involved in his community.

Known for his warm smile and sense of humor, Mack was happiest surrounded by family. He was a devoted father and grandfather who loved fishing, daily morning walks and summers spent at his cherished home in Hermit Lakes, Colo.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patricia Anne Richards; his parents, Louis and Rushia Richards; his son, Robert “Bobby” Richards; daughter Susan Richards; sisters Maxine Widener and Mildred Phillips; and his brother, L.A. “Tags” Richards.

Mack is survived by his son, David Richards and wife Kiesha, of Childress; daughter Casey Gonzalez and husband Raul, of Memphis; and sister Patsy Jester, of Hamilton, Texas. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Cody Bell, of Corpus Christi, Texas, Allie Rutledge and husband Chase, of Weatherford, Texas, Taylor Richards, of Houston, Gaynor Gonzalez, of Memphis, Levi Gonzalez, of Prosper, Texas, Mackewin Gonzalez, of Abilene, Texas, and David Richards and wife Jacquelynn, of Amarillo, Texas; great-grandchildren, Rafe, Mack, Austin, Madison, Brynley, Jaxson David Richards, Christian Goff-Richards and Isabella Richards; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to Dolores Escavado, his caretaker and dear friend, for her devoted companionship and care in his final years.
