Mary Ann Richards Lowe, 93, lifelong resident of Collingsworth County, Texas, passed away Friday, July 25, 2025, in Wheeler, Texas.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, 2025, in North Fairview Cemetery in Wellington, Texas, with Rev. Anthony Knowles, pastor of the Quail Baptist Church, officiating. Service arrangements and cremation are by Adams Funeral Home of Wellington.

She was born on Oct. 28, 1931, in Wellington, to Dick Earl and Gladys Irene Rainer Richards.

Mary Ann attended school in Wellington and graduated from Wellington High School in 1949. She married Bill Lowe on March 25, 1950, in Wellington. He preceded her in death in 1996.

She attended Clarendon College and received her Emergency Medical Technician certification in 1979. She served on the volunteer ambulance service for seven years.

Mary Ann was a member and served as an officer of several different barrel racing organizations. She participated in rodeos from Texas to Canada and qualified for the first National Old Timers Rodeo Association Finals held in Las Vegas, Nev. in 1980. In 1998, she was the State Champion Barrel Racer, and she won her first saddle, one of many prizes and cash awards she won throughout her long career.

She was a 4-H Horse Club leader for 15 years, helping shape many winners from Collingsworth County.

In 1981, the President’s Award from the Collingsworth County Chamber of Commerce was presented jointly to her and Bill Hatch. Mary Ann was a member of the First Baptist Church, where she loved singing in the choir, praising her Lord Jesus Christ and volunteering to help with Vacation Bible School each summer. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

She was also preceded death by her parents; a sister, Betty Jean Winslett Squyres; her grandson, Sean Delaney; and many other family members and friends.

Mary Ann is survived by a son, Andy Lowe, of North Richland Hills,Texas; a daughter, Susan Langley, and husband Randy, of Wellington; six grandchildren, Taylor Swann and husband Ben, of Frisco, Texas, Zach Lowe, of Dallas, Texas, Eddie Hall and wife Christine, of Caddo Mills, Texas, Kristen Osborne and husband Mike, of Tavares, Fla., Marcie Orr and husband Matt, of Wellington and Vanessa Langley, of Dallas; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and many special friends.
