Orville Franklin Weatherbee passed away on Dec. 18, 2023, in Childress, Texas.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 21, 2023, at the Presbyterian Church of Childress with Cliff Johnson presiding. Burial followed at Childress Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.

Visitation was help at 1 p.m., just before the funeral, Thursday, Dec. 21, 2023, at the First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.

Orville Weatherbee was born on March 16, 1929, in Childress to William F. Weatherbee and his wife, Birdie. He was the youngest of four sisters and three brothers. He married the love of his life, Frances, and was married for 73 years. He also served his country in the Army. Orville was always there to love and support his friends and family. He served his community in various ways. He was a longtime volunteer of the 4-H Club of Childress. Orville served as Chaplain of Eastern Star and the Elks Lodge. He and Frances were also honored with the title, King and Queen of Old Settlers.

Orville is survived by his wife, Frances, of Childress; daughter Melinda Smith and husband Dennis, of Pittsburg, Texas; granddaughter Kathryn Smith, of Ithaca, N.Y.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
