Paul Aubrey ‘PA’ Rogers

Body

Paul Aubrey Rogers, known affectionately as “PA,” passed away on Dec. 7, 2025, in Shelton, Wash., at the age of 71. Born on Feb. 9, 1954, in Childress, Texas, Paul was a son of the Panhandle. His reputation as a formidable competitor began with his thrilling victory in the local Punt, Pass, and Kick contest — an early sign of the talent that would play a role in his career as a Bobcat. During the 1970s, Paul was a cornerstone of the regional championship football and district basketball teams, earning All-District honorable mention in both sports in ‘71 and All-District in ‘72.

After graduating from the University of Texas in 1976, Paul launched a distinguished lifelong career in the insurance industry. He eventually established The Rogers Insurance Agency, which he successfully operated in California before relocating the business to Shelton, Wash.

While he was a businessman by trade, Paul’s true passion lay in the bond between man and dog. For 25 years, he was a highly regarded dog trainer specializing in his beloved Labradors. His expertise was well known in the training community, and he remained part of the field until his final days. Paul was also a man of great curiosity and adventure, traveling the world to scuba dive the Great Barrier Reef and hike the glaciers of New Zealand. His nieces and nephews hold cherished memories of traveling across the country with him, witnessing firsthand his wit and dry humor, his deep devotion to his dogs and his love for the outdoors.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Barbara Crouch Talley and Charles Rogers; his stepmother, Nelda Rogers; and his brother, Charles “Chuck” Rogers. He is survived by his sister, Robin McCarter, and her husband, Darren; sister Terri Castleberry; and brother Keith Loter. He is also survived by his three nieces, Ashley, Jenny and Sara, and his two nephews, Jacob and Christopher, who all carry his lessons of discipline and adventure.
