Peggy Browning walked into the arms of Jesus on Jan. 22, 2024, in Bowie, Texas, to be reunited with her beloved husband, John Browning. She and John are survived by their children, Larry and Lesa Browning, of Tell, Texas, and Julie Browning, of Bowie.
Her greatest joys have been her granddaughter, Amanda Browning Tucker, of Childress, Texas, and Emily Browning Diaz, of Dalhart, Texas. Her love for those two girls was eclipsed only by her love for her two great-grandsons, Emmett and Elliott Diaz.
Peggy was born to Grace and Dallas Love in Cottle County, Texas, on June 11, 1929.
Peggy loved the Lord and loved to serve Him. For many years, she taught Sunday School at Tell Southside Baptist Church. That church has special memories, where John, Larry, Julie and Lesa all asked Jesus into their hearts.
Later, Peggy worked in the church library at First Baptist Church, Childress, and found great fulfillment in joining with others to serve meals to bereaved families. Her special contribution was doing the laundry after the meals. She wanted all of the dish towels to be stain-free!
A casual memorial gathering will be held at 2 p.m. Feb. 9, 2023, in the Fellowship Hall of First Baptist Church in Childress. A time for visiting and sharing memories will follow.
Peggy’s family requests no donations and no flowers. Instead, spend some quality time with your loved ones, and don’t forget to say, “I love you” often.
