Roy Raymond Jeffrey Jr. was born Dec. 21,1938, in Clayton, N.M. to Roy Raymond and Thelma Ona Manos Jeffrey. He passed from this life on Dec. 17, 2023.
He was raised on the Jeffrey Ranch in New Mexico and moved to Amarillo, Texas as a teenager.
Roy Ray married Carleta Goodwin in 1956 in Amarillo, and they had four children, Ray, Karen, Leigh Ann and Jacen. They moved to Wellington, Texas in 1966, where Roy Ray owned and operated West Texas Engine with his father, Roy Jeffrey, Sr.
He later married Neva Fields Langford in 1979 in Wellington, and together, they raised son Lee Langford. She preceded him in death in 2011.
Roy Ray and Brenda Barton had been together since 2012, and he loved all her family as his own.
He was very blessed with a large family, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many close friends. He loved his family and extended families. He exemplified traits of caring, loving, honesty and softheartedness.
Roy Ray was gifted with extraordinary talents with a mechanical mind and engineering skills. It was said that he could fix, create and/ or build almost anything. He owned and operated West Texas Engine for over 50 years until his retirement in 2018. He also was an inventor and owner of Solar Wind. Roy Ray was an avid golfer, loved fishing and leather work, and he enjoyed playing the piano.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Glen Allen Jeffrey, of Houston, Texas; his son, Jacen Allen Jeffrey, of Kenai, Alaska; and a grandson, Stacey Charles Vassey, of Denton, Texas.
Roy Ray is survived by Brenda Barton, of Wellington; children Ray Jeffrey, of Seattle, Wash., Karen Jones and her husband, Tim, of Palestine, Texas, Leigh Ann Vassey, of Denton, and Lee Langford, of Blue Springs, Mo.; his grandchildren, Kelly Jeffrey and Kelli, of Lenexa, Kan., Aaron Jeffrey, of Seattle, Jeremy Jones and Megan, of Graham, N.C., Joshua Jones and Aileen, of Seabrook, Texas, Tyra Krause and Matthew, of Denton, April Bogs and Will, of Grapevine, Texas, Micki Hayden and Christopher, of Slidell, La., Tanner Jeffrey and Susan, of Bogata,Texas, Zachary Jeffrey and Nora, of Wellington, Nikki Longbine and Kyle, of Childress, Texas, Jacee Jeffrey, of Wellington, Devin Langford and Connor Langford, both of Blue Springs; and well over a dozen great-grandchildren.
Roy Ray worked hard and lived a long, happy life filled with family and friends that will miss him for a lifetime.
Memorial service for Roy Ray will be held at a later date, determined by his family.
