Tom Dewey, age 79, was born on Sept. 27, 1944, to William Edward Dewey and Eve Lorene (McCown) Dewey.

A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, 2024, at the First Baptist Church of Childress, Texas with Kerry Wood officiating.

Tom was a loving husband and father and was married to the love of his life, Mary (Snider) Dewey for 58 years until his passing. He served in the United States Army from 1961-1967. He was a Boy Scout Master and Leader of Troop 136, and he was a Little League coach in Haskell, Texas. He was a 50year member of the Masonic Lodge #695 and also the Order of the Eastern Star in Childress. After retiring from GTE as a cable splicer, he worked for AEP as a radio technician and then for the United States Postal Service as a contract mail carrier. Of all of his occupations,farming was his favorite.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother Jack Melton Goff; and brother Norton Kelly Goff.

Tom is survived by wife Mary (Snider) Dewey, of Childress; son Michael Edward Dewey, of Dallas,Texas; daughter Mary Lynn Dewey, of Childress; son Timothy Edward Dewey and wife Amanda, of Childress; brother Travis Lee Dewey and wife Debbie, of Haskell; and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.
