Walter Dale Abney, 84, of Lubbock, Texas, passed away peacefully in his home on Oct. 3, 2024. He was born in Wellington, Texas on Nov. 30, 1939, to Walter Earl Abney and Edna Bell (Dell) Abney.
He is survived by Monty Lamkin, his friend and companion of over 50 years; his brothers, Dan Reid ( Jeanie) Abney, of Moore, Okla., and Terry Lynn (Cathy) Abney, of Corvalis, Ore.; his sisters, Patrician Ann Williams, of Lubbock, and Bonnie Carol Pruitt, of Dimmitt, Texas; six nieces; and nine nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Mary Abney Barnette; his brother, Carl Michael Abney; his brother-inlaw, Perry (Pat) Williams; his sister-in-law, Barbara (Mike) Abney; four nephews; and three infants.
Walt graduated from Wellington High School in 1958. He very much enjoyed returning for his 65th high school reunion in 2023.
