WILBURN LEO ‘WILLIE’ BARNETT
Wilburn Leo “Willie” Barnett, age 86, passed with his children by his side in Memphis, Texas, on Nov. 18, 2025.
Visitation took place from 10-11:30 a.m. Nov. 22, 2025, at the First Baptist Church in Quanah, Texas. A family lunch followed, and the service took place at 2 p.m. Burial followed in Quanah Memorial Park Cemetery beside his wife of 55 years. Arrangements were under the care of Robertson Funeral Directors of Memphis.
Willie was born in Quanah on April 16, 1939, to Mabel Wright and John Barnett.
He grew up in Quanah and then, in 1960, moved to Lubbock, where he started his own tire business. He was active in Lions Club as president, Elks Lodge and the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Willie met Lou, and they married in May 1960. They worked together and grew Willie’s Tire Service and raised two children. In 1975, they decided to move to Quanah to finish raising their children. In Quanah, Willie decided to farm, perform irrigation repair for other farmers, raise cattle and build grain bins. He finished his life selling tires until the age of 82.
Known for his love of his family and friends, the little kids would always enjoy watching Willie pop his dentures out and back in as they screamed and giggled.
He is survived by his two children, son Barney Barnett, of Memphis, and daughter Brenda Barnett and partner Pam, of Oklahoma City; one grandson, Heath Barnett and wife Ara; and two great-grandchildren, Lainey and Watson, of Lipan, Texas; a sister, Joyce Ritchie, of Quanah; and numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Willie was preceded in death by his parents; wife Lou; five brothers, John Thomas, James Timothy, John David “Junior,” Jesse Gerald and Dale Herman; six sisters, Hazel Rosalee, Dora Mae, Sylvia Darlene, Virginia Delores, Geneva Kay and Claudia Inez; one niece; and four nephews.
