AMARILLO — Childress’ Aiden Allen and Wellington’s Bryant Tarver were recently nominated for the Amarillo Globe-News Midseason Boys Basketball Player of the Year. Barely missing the mark, Allen earned 16,880 votes, just shy of Levi Ashurst’s 20,472-vote win. Tarver received more than 1,000 votes.

CHILDRESS — Competing in the Childress Boys Powerlifting Meet Thursday, Jan. 18, the Childress Bobcats took a second-place team finish, earning 34 points, thanks to first-place lifts by Ethan Ferguson,Junior Hicks,Adrian Macias and Jaden Rodriguez.
