As a child, I would climb to a “seat” in our china berry and read Tom Sawyer or Huck Finn. I n 2022, in Childress, I planted some chinaberries in containers and two came out. However, I was at a point of crisis when the June family reunion came around.

WELLINGTON – Growing up in the Bean Hill Community of Collingsworth County, Wellington native and 1970 graduate of Wellington High School (WHS) Gary Thomas relates his story in his latest book, “The Bean Hill Kids.”Currently a resident of Denver, Colo.

AMARILLO – Retired teachers from Childress and Wellington attended the recent Texas Retired Teacher Association (TRTA) District 16 Fall Conference at the Region 16 Education Service Center in Amarillo.
